Cathedral Prep vs. Warren

Today, 7 p.m., Veterans Stadium

- Records: Cathedral Prep 10-0; Warren 9-2

- How they got there: Cathedral Prep received a first-round bye after winning the Region 6 championship; Warren defeated Conneaut 21-12 in the District 10 quarterfinals.

- Outlook: Cathedral Prep has been on a roll this season at 10-0 and looks like a tough out the rest of the way. Damion Terry, a Michigan State recruit, is District 10's all-time passer with 6,116 yards and could continue to set the bar higher and higher each week. The Ramblers showcased their ability to run the ball with Delton Williams, another Michigan State recruit, piling up 204 yards and three touchdowns in Week 10 against General McLane. Williams also caught a touchdown pass in the 47-0 win. Warren counters with a pass-heavy team behind quarterback Austin Jerman. The 6-foot 2-inch 180-pound college prospect has thrown for 1,840 yards and 26 touchdowns and has rushed for 789 yards and eight touchdowns. The Dragons held off Conneaut 21-12 in the quarterfinals behind a 50-yard touchdown run from Jordan Willetts and two TD passes from Jerman to Mark Davis.

- Our call: Cathedral Prep 35, Warren 14

- What's at stake: The winner plays the General McLane-Slippery Rock winner in the District 10 championship.

General McLane vs. Slippery Rock

- How they got there: General McLane defeated Oil City 56-35; Slippery Rock received a first-round bye after winning the Region 5 championship.

- Outlook: General McLane and Slippery Rock meet for what could be the best game on the schedule this weekend. The Lancers recovered from being shut out by Cathedral Prep in Week 10 to erupt for 56 points against Oil City. Calvin Kinnard averaged more than 30 yards per rush and scored three touchdowns against the Oilers, while Quinn Thompson, a Connecticut recruit, has been solid on offense and defense. McLane had won six games in a row before its loss in Week 10, with its only other loss coming to Class AAAA power McDowell. Slippery Rock was 0-10 two years ago but the Rockets have improved greatly in less than two years. Slippery Rock made the postseason in 2011 and won the Region 5 championship this fall. The Rockets' only loss came to rival Grove City, 34-14. Ryan Currie has been solid at quarterback along with running backs Frank Conlon and Joey Meyer.

- Our call: General McLane 21, Slippery Rock 20

- What's at stake: The winner plays the Cathedral Prep-Warren winner in the District 10 championship.

- How they qualified: McDowell is the District 10 automatic; Perry is the District 8 automatic

The Trojans had last week off and could be a dangerous team in the postseason. Quarterback Jake Tarasovitch has stepped up to lead the offense in place of injured quarterback Jarrett Koper. James Conner and Khyre Drayer have been terrific running backs, and the Trojans' defense allowed only 12 points in their final three games of the regular season. Perry has been solid since its 56-6 loss to Cathedral Prep in Week 1. The Commodores have eight wins in their past nine games, including a thrilling 9-6 win over University Prep in overtime to win the City League championship. Robert Willie scored on a 9-yard run for Perry, while Cornelio Coates had the game-winning kick from 27 yards out.
