Assistant Professor

The Department of Educational Leadership and Division of Student Affairs seeks a full-time, (9 month appointment) tenure-track faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor for the Higher Education and Student Affairs (HESA) Master?s Program.? As a program of the nationally recognized Neag School of Education, the HESA curriculum emphasizes the integration of scholarship with practical application and includes required assistantships, multiple internships, and an emphasis on program assessment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A doctorate in higher education, student affairs administration or related field, earned by the time of appointment;
  • Experience in administrative position(s) at college or university;
  • Expertise in qualitative or quantitative research methodologies that has potential to lead to publishable research;
  • Ability to teach? assessment and other courses in a higher education and student affairs program;
  • Commitment to developing strong? professional relationships with student affairs administrators and faculty;
  • Ability to interact effectively in a culturally and ethnically diverse community;
  • Capability to provide academic and career advisement to graduate students and professionals.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Successful teaching experience in a higher education and student affairs graduate program;
  • Publications and scholarly presentations related to higher education and student affairs;
  • Active involvement in higher education and student affairs professional associations;
  • Experience with mentoring individuals pursuing careers in higher education and student affairs administration.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach master?s? courses in the Higher Education and Student Affairs Program curriculum;
  • Coordinate student assessment projects that support the Division of Student Affairs strategic initiatives;
  • Advise and mentor master?s students;
  • Create initiatives that support the professional development needs of master?s students and student affairs administrators;
  • Establish a sustainable line of research in higher education and student affairs;
  • Become actively involved in higher education and student affairs professional associations;
  • Develop working relationships with university administrators and faculty both on- and off-campus;
  • Participate in scholarship and professional service initiatives of the HESA Program, Department of Educational Leadership, and Neag School of Education.
