Q: We walked through a model home a few times and sat down with the builders agent to run some numbers but have yet to put a contract in, can we still be represented by our own agent?
A: Check with a Realtor in your area. Many builders will not pay a commission to a Realtor unless the Realtor accompanies the buyer on their first visit. Some builders will make exceptions to that rule, though, so you should check with your Realtor.
Phil Lunnon is a Realtor? with Lunnon Realty in Lakewood, CO.
A: Normally no. If you have not entered for the first time with a Realtor, and registered with that Realtor (as your representative) it?s likely the builder will not acknowledge your agency relationship with them.
Dorene Slavitz is a Realtor? with The Real Estate Group in Culver City, CA and Torrance, CA.
